The Sri Lanka Campaign is a global non-partisan movement that aims to:

  1. Achieve genuine reconciliation based on accountability for violations of international law
  2. Build respect for human rights and the rule of law
  3. Support efforts within Sri Lankan civil society to promote a just and lasting peace

The halfway mark

The United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) met last month to discuss Sri Lanka’s progress in building a lasting peace. This was designed to mark the halfway point in the process. Unfortunately, it seems Sri Lanka is a very long way from that milestone.

The farce of the UN’s recent tourism conference in Sri Lanka

Last week, the United Nations agency responsible for the promotion of responsible, sustainable and universally accessible tourism (UNWTO) held a conference in Passikudah – a location on the East coast of Sri Lanka notorious for the harm to local communities caused by insensitive tourism development practices.
